When I attempt to replace files using the Updater
(http://www.archive.org/update_item.php)
I am not given an opportunity to opt out of having derivatives made. I have two albums now that have derivative forms on that I did not want them done to. Can this problem be fixed soon? I have some more files I plan to update, and I really don't want the derivation thing to happen involuntarily.

Thanks Simon C. (I am guessing you did it). I saw that the derivation thing was fixed on those albums.

Will that still be a problem in the future, or has the form been fixed?

I don't remember fixing that :P Basically, if this happens to you, it's possible that, if 'no derivatives' are still ticked on the item, that it will have derivatives only until the deriver makes its next pass, every 12 hours.

[In other words, there's a bug, but it may correct the bug itself.]

If the derivatives aren't going away, re-edit the item, make sure the 'no derivatives' box is ticked, and update it.

Ah, okay. Heh.

Thanks for the info. So I infer then, that if I ever retroactively want to not use derivations, that I select "do not" on the edit page, and they'll be gone within 12 hours? That's helpful to know, as I do have a few past releases that I wouldn't mind doing away with the derived formats.

That's exactly correct, and applies to anyone else who runs a netlabel - if you want to remove derivations, just edit the release at click that 'No Derivations' box.

However, it doesn't currently work the other way round - if you unclick the box, it doesn't _YET_ automatically make new derivations for you. It may do eventually, however.

Oh, and the adding derivations when replacing items is a bug, and a known one, I think, so apologies for that.
